I recently resigned my position in Port Washington Schools after 17 years as a special education teacher. I worked with children with behavior disabilities and loved my kids. I have always been a gardener and passionate about lost skills (from long ago) and growing/preserving food and wanting to figure out how to incorporate this into my classroom. My students' attendance improved and their motivation to do better in school increased just so they could participate in the school garden/cooking class/coffee shop. I realized I needed a break from the full time classroom to figure out the next step. This is where I am now...how to integrate my passion for growing/preserving food, teaching skills and inspiring and educating others.
